Insight in RustDroid Protocol statistics, usage of source based and websocket based rcon.

RustDroid - Rcon Procotol statistics

Marcel February 10, 2017 RustDroid No Comments

Hey there,

since I got pretty curious lately which protocols are used within RustDroid, I played around with google analytics. Wasn’t easy, but this is what I got, here are some RustDroid Rcon Protocol statistics:

Protocol Usage

Here’s the underlying communication protocol that is being used. RustDroid automatically figures out the right one for your server.

So the one that always has been in place is called Source-Rcon, here we got plenty of users:

Rcon Source users at around 100ish

However I thought everyone would be using the new one, so those should clearly beat the source users in numbers, guess what:

Rcon Web users at around 50ish

So not everyone seems to be in love with Web-Rcon yet, however, from a developer prospective it’s clearly the better protocol. So better switch your server to it!

Why not both?

Also, stuff like using 2 different protocols at the same time while having multiple servers added doesn’t seem to be in trend for now, however, RustDroid is capable of that.

Is someone still using RustDroid on Legacy Rust?

It never dies, greetings to the 1-2 users out there, glad to see it still working.
