Privacy Policy for Steam Player Count

Last updated: 15th march 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how IOGames (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Steam Player Count mobile application (“App”) available on Google Play and other platforms.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information collected automatically

  • Anonymous account identifier: When you open the App, we create an anonymous account (via Firebase Authentication) so we can store your tracked games and settings. This identifier does not include your name, email address, or other personal details.
  • Device token for push notifications: If you enable notifications, we receive and store a push notification token (FCM token) so we can send you alerts when player counts reach your chosen thresholds. This token is linked to your anonymous account only.
  • Your tracked games and settings: We store the list of Steam games you track, your threshold numbers, and notification preferences. This data is linked to your anonymous account so it can be restored on reinstall or a new device (when using the same app/account link, if applicable).

1.2 Data we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. We do not collect precise location data. We do not sell your data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the App’s features (tracking Steam game player counts and notifying you when thresholds are met).
  • Store your list of tracked games and settings in the cloud so they are available across sessions and devices.
  • Send you push notifications only when player counts meet the thresholds you have set.
  • Operate and improve our services (e.g., fixing errors, improving performance).

3. Where Your Data Is Stored and Processed

Your data (anonymous user ID, device token, tracked games, and settings) is stored and processed using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore or similar, and Firebase Cloud Messaging). This means your data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy practices and may be stored in data centers in various regions.

We also use Steam (Valve Corporation) public data (game names, app IDs, player counts) to power the App. We do not send your personal data to Steam; we only use their publicly available game and player count information.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your information. We may share or disclose data only in these cases:

  • Service providers: We use Google Firebase to run the App. Google processes data as necessary to provide these services and in line with their own privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, sale, or transfer of assets, your data could be transferred as part of that transaction; the same privacy commitments would apply.

5. Data Retention

  • We retain your anonymous account data, tracked games, and notification settings for as long as your account exists and you use the App.
  • If you uninstall the App, we may still retain server-side data (e.g., anonymous ID, device tokens, tracked games) for a limited period for operational and legal purposes. You may contact us to request deletion (see Section 7).

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including Firebase’s security and access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Uninstall: You can stop using the App and delete it at any time. This will stop new data from being associated with your device.
  • Notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings for the App.
  • Access and deletion: Because we use anonymous accounts, we do not have a way for you to log in on a website to see your data. If you want to request access to or deletion of the data associated with your installation, please contact us at mail@iogames.de. We will respond within a reasonable time and, where required by law, honor deletion requests.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or other regions with similar laws, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). Contact us using the details below to exercise them.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on [Your website or app listing URL] and, where required (e.g., for material changes on Google Play), we may notify you in the App or via the store listing. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
