Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of
an error in the app we collect data and information (through Googles Android Services) on your phone
called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address,
device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service,
the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
Connection Modes — Direct vs. Proxy
RustDroid offers two distinct ways to connect to a Rust game server. They have different privacy implications, and the difference is important:
- Direct mode (default, used unless you explicitly opt into Proxy mode): The app connects straight from your device to the game server IP and port you entered, using the RCON protocol. Your server address, RCON password and any commands you send are exchanged only between your device and that game server. None of this connection data is sent to, processed by, or stored on IO-Games servers.
- Proxy mode (opt-in, per server): If — and only if — you explicitly choose “Proxy” as the connection mode when adding or editing a server, the app routes that server’s connection through an IO-Games-operated backend (the “RustDroid proxy”). This enables features that require an always-on connection, such as push notifications while the app is closed, watched-player alerts, and chat-keyword alerts. This is the only feature of RustDroid that causes additional data to be transmitted to and stored on IO-Games servers.
What we collect and store when (and only when) you use Proxy mode
When you add a server in Proxy mode, the following data is transmitted to and stored on IO-Games-operated infrastructure so the proxy can maintain the connection on your behalf:
- The server address (host/IP and port) and the RCON password you entered for that server, so the proxy can connect to your game server on your behalf.
- An anonymous account identifier issued by Firebase Authentication, which links your device to the proxy servers you created. This identifier is not tied to an email address, phone number or real-world identity unless you provide one.
- The Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token of your device, so push notifications can be delivered to it.
- Your configured notification rules for that server (e.g. Steam64 IDs of watched players, chat keywords you want to be alerted on, on/off flags for server-disconnect/player-joined/chat notifications).
- Events received from your game server while the proxy is connected (e.g. player join/leave events, chat messages, server status, command results). These are normalized and persisted so the app can show history, deliver missed notifications, and so notification rules can be evaluated.
This proxy-mode data is processed by IO-Games for the sole purpose of providing the proxy feature itself (maintaining the RCON connection, evaluating notification rules, delivering push notifications, and showing you your own server’s data in the app). It is not sold and is not shared with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers listed in this policy.
What stays out of Proxy mode
The following always stay on your device and are never sent to IO-Games servers, regardless of whether you use Proxy mode for some other server:
- Any server you added in Direct mode, including its address and RCON password.
- Commands you run against a Direct-mode server, and the responses to those commands.
- OCR scans performed with the “Scan from screen” feature (images are processed locally on your device only).
- Your saved custom command buttons and command backups.
Your choices and deleting proxy data
Proxy mode is strictly opt-in per server. You can:
- Use the app without ever enabling Proxy mode — in that case no server data leaves your device for IO-Games infrastructure.
- Remove a proxy server from within the app at any time; this deletes the corresponding server entry, credentials and notification rules from the proxy backend.
- Contact us (see “Contact Us” below) to request deletion of the anonymous account associated with your device and all data stored on the proxy under it.
